In 2003 the BIG Insurance Companies' lobbyists were able to convince the Colorado State Legislature to do away with one of our State's best protections, the mandatory Personal Injury Protection Plans (PIP), which required all Colorado drivers to have at least $25,000.00 of medical care coverage. The Insurance lobbies' argument was that it would decrease premiums and lawsuits. Unfortunately, as we are all aware the exact opposite occurred and the BIG Insurance Companies now continually raise premiums and refuse to settle claims in a timely manner, thus increasing the necessity for injured victims to file lawsuits.
